Send Me No Flowers (1964)
Last-night I watched the last of the Rock Hudson/Doris Day movies. It was very different, yet also similar, to the previous two. I’m not sure which I like the best, Pillow Talk or Send Me No Flowers. I really disliked Lover Come Back. But then, this isn’t a review of that movie. Send Me No Flowerswas very cute, a fun romantic comedy. Though I found it to be a little less romantic and a little more comedy. Nothing wrong with that mind you. There was a bit of innuendo, but other than that (and that being subtle due to the censorship of the time), this is a clean movie. But that’s about all there is to say for it: fun, sweet, cute, laugh out loud funny. I thoroughly enjoyed Rock Hudson’s character for a change. Dare I say he’s even cute in this movie? Tony Randall of course is, as always, a riot! I find him almost a Thelma Ritter type side-kick, but that could be just me. Funnyman Paul Lynde also takes an awesome turn as the funeral home proprietor. I recommend if you are in the mood for something light and frothy
Good times!
